About Form I-9 2023 Printable

Employment Authorization Document (EAD), or Employment Authorization Document-2 (EAD-2), is a document that establishes the employee's legal status. While most undocumented immigrants with employment authorization remain in the under an EAD, many unauthorized immigrants have obtained temporary visas that allow them to temporarily be employed. EADS are issued by the Department of State and are available at any immigration office. You can also request an EAD from DHS by filing a I-94A application, which is available online at or by calling. If you need an EAD for any of your employees, request an EAD for each worker and submit them accordingly. Some employers will provide an EAD to all new hires and will accept any documentation of status provided by an employment verification agency if you have one. EADS are not automatically accepted, but it is usually the best option. Employers must verify the status of every person that applies for a job by submitting an EAD. There are a couple of requirements when completing an EAD. The first and most important is for the employer to obtain a letter from the Immigration and Citizenship Services (USCIS) stating that the employee is an authorized beneficiary. There are several reasons a person in the United States may need, or not need, to obtain an EAD. For example: The individual may have an expired visa that requires an EAD. The individual is employed by an employer, and the employer needs the individual to have a work visa issued upon arrival in the United States The individual may be a dependent of an immigrant eligible for permanent residence under the visa waiver program (VIP) The individual is the subject of a petition for an immigration benefit being filed with the US government. The EAD may be required to document that the individual was born in the United States or at least was present in the United States for at least nine months before they would have been eligible for an EAD. Some employers have the audacity to ask an employee if they have a medical condition or if their child is a citizen in the I-9 form in order to obtain an EAD. There really is no such thing as an I-9 form if you look closely.
